Participating countries: Finland, Lithuania, Greece, Hungary. All schools are primary schools. The length of time of the cooperation is three years. (the institutions apply for grant every year)
Theme of the project: "Water in our life and environment"
2004/2005: research into science
2005/2006: occurrence of the water in art
2006/2007: the role of the water in history and religion
In the first year Ságvári Endre Általános Iskola carries out researches into water near Oroszlány , in the second year the lake Balaton, and in the third year the rivers Danube and Tisza.
Basic principle: each of the participating schools is situated near a river, a lake or a sea which will enable the pupils to study the theme from different aspects and deal with it in a concrete way.
Aim:
- Pupils will learn about the need of clean water and the use of water
- They will learn the views of these theme in the participating countries
- They will get complex knowledge in the theme of water
- They will be able to express their opinion on the question they are interested in
- They will exchange letters, use e-mails, so they improve their foreign language skills
- The project will increase the consciousness of the European citizenship and they learn to understand differences in traditions, school cultures, educational system and society
Expected impact:
- The project will make pupils realize the need and worth of water in their daily life
- Meeting students from different countries will increase our students┬ĺ positive attitudes towards different nationalities and nations
- The students┬ĺ foreign language skills will develop
- The teaching staff will gain methodological experience in international cooperation
- The professional skill of the staff will develop as the teachers learn about educational system and results of participating countries
